It may be the 21st century, but every November Israel's capital city goes medieval for a fun festival featuring performances by Italian and Israeli performers.
The idea behind the recent Knights in Jerusalem festival ((http://www.jerusalem-oldcity.org.il/pages_e/Knights_festival.aspx) was "to give a lot of fun to the people, and also to let them know the special streets of old Jerusalem, which are one of a kind, " says Jackie Bachar, festival producer and artistic director.
"This year is special because Italian and Israeli artists are working together. And the Old City setting brings it to life," adds Elad Kendel of the Jerusalem Development Authority (http://www.jda.gov.il/Front/ShowCategory.aspx?CatId=112).
Members of the famed Venice Carnival helped enliven the Old City streets during the November festival, which has become an annual event.
